About Jim Watson
"Accessibility, responsiveness, effectiveness, and a sense of humor have to be among the most desirable traits you would want in a mortgage loan officer." When Jim Watson came to the mortgage business in 1997 as a mortgage loan officer, he brought with him an analytical, problem solving mentality, coupled with a quick wit and dry sense of humor his clients cherish. Whether it's with a first time homeowner or a client who has owned many properties, Jim is equally patient and thorough in explaining available mortgage options and procedures, credit, credit scoring, and financing alternatives, and the advantages and disadvantages of various courses of action. Jim started working in finance in 1977, in the automotive industry. After eleven years in sales management and finance, Jim switched careers to property investment, rehab and rental, before returning to finance, in the mortgage industry. Jim's years of prior experience with property and finance have proved invaluable to many of his clients, especially in helping them understand and navigate through the many new rules and regulations promulgated in the last few years. "When I was a child, my father used to encourage the best from my brothers and me, saying ‘Any job worth doing is worth doing right.' I didn't especially appreciate it then, but I got in the habit of "doing it right" the first time, rather than doing it again until it WAS right. That has taught me to look at all angles, possibilities and repercussions of a situation to find the best solution." As far as "spare time," Jim says he is more of a "plant caretaker" than a gardener, but spends a lot of time after business hours either working on the gardens around his property, or walking in the woods, enjoying the solitude and quiet. "I see my job as dream fulfillment, whether it's helping a first time homebuyer, an investor looking to add another property, a business owner seeking to expand, or the seasoned homeowner who has found his dream house. To each of them, their mortgage is the most important concern at this moment, and I respect and appreciate that they have come to me to help them accomplish this goal." Jim Watson graduated from Middlebury College, in Middlebury Vermont, with a BA in Political Science. He is a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and an avid outdoorsman.
